Dr. Tom Palmieri, EdD, NCC, ACS, LPC, LBS
Licensed Professional Counselor & Behavior Specialist

I am originally from Brooklyn, NY, and I worked in wellness coaching prior to relocating to PA. I take an integrated clinical approach to how the mind and body are impacted by our environments and relationships. The opportunity for change is always on the table, and my job as a counselor is to help facilitate change. My doctoral research focused on communication between clinicians and senior leaders in higher education settings, and I also provide organizational consultation outside my work in the practice. My mission is to help create systems where everyone can thrive.
My husband, Stephen, and I live in Harrisburg with our three (ridiculously spoiled) cats Moose, Bear, & Daphne. Moose has been known to invite himself into people’s sessions when I work from home, so hopefully you love cats as much as I do. Outside of work I enjoy cooking, weight lifting, walks along the Susquehanna River, coffee, anime, and playing Magic: The Gathering with friends.
Practice Description
Counseling gives you the ability to practice re-writing your story. My goal is to help create a safe, and brave space where my clients can take risks to get “unstuck”. People tend to have a good idea of what upsets and distresses them, but counseling is about finding new perspectives and behaviors to do something different. The counselor-client relationship is one of trust, compassion, honesty, and allows people to have better relationships with others.
I have previously worked as an in-home family therapist, a behavioral consultant for individuals on the Autism Spectrum, a co-director of an intensive-outpatient recovery program, a college counseling center director, and as an adjunct faculty at the graduate and undergraduate levels. I also have a background in corporate training, learning and development, and consulting. Counseling is not one size that fits all, and I will work with you to customize our process towards what is most important to you.
