Alex Sliwecki

My journey in mental health is deeply personal, shaped by my experiences as a Colombian adoptee and a lifelong exploration of identity, authenticity, and resilience. My professional background spans systems thinking, high-performance business development, self-awareness coaching, geographic information systems, and artificial intelligence data analysis—fields that have honed my ability to navigate complexity with clarity and creativity. This multidisciplinary foundation informs my integrative approach, blending critical thinking with holistic strategies.

Prior to joining Courtyard Counseling Center, LLC in August 2024, I worked as a graduate intern in an adolescent partial hospitalization program, facilitating both individual and group therapy. Currently, I lead a law student support group at a local university while seeing individual clients at the practice.

Practice Description

I believe transformation begins with awareness. My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and the science of learning, helping clients cultivate greater self-awareness. I am deeply committed to authenticity, personal growth, and creating a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their inner world and build meaningful change in their outer reality. Drawing from insight-oriented therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, somatic and trauma-informed therapies, and integrating mindfulness, interpersonal neurology, and motivational questioning, I help empower clients to reconstruct the stories that hold them back while moving away from states of disconnection towards states of authentic alignment, fostering clarity and hope.

At the heart of my practice is the belief in our ability to reshape our reality, grounded in neuroplasticity and the science of learning. Together, we will challenge internal narratives, limiting beliefs, non-judgmentally process emotional and somatic experiences, and cultivate positive states of being aligned with your values, needs, and goals. Sessions may blend psychological depth with actionable strategies, addressing the effects of trauma, exploring disconnection from the “self,” understanding cognitive distortions/biases and clarifying core beliefs to cultivate motivation. Through consistent practice, intentional reinforcement, and experiential interventions—such as workbooks, meditation, or activities outside of session—we can reframe suffering, letting go of unwanted stories, thoughts and behaviors while strengthening the ones that serve you.

By staying attuned to the complexities of today’s world—including advancements in artificial intelligence and societal change—I strive to ensure therapy remains relevant, grounded, and effective. My ultimate goal is to empower clients and develop the tools and strategies to reconnect with their authentic selves while experiencing sustainable resilience, fulfillment, and certainty in an unpredictable world.
